Baker Ave. Dwelling Fire - August 28, 2019 |

| City Firefighters were dispatched to the 400 West Block of Baker Avenue for a reported dwelling fire around 12:40pm on August 28, 2019. Squad 3, under the command of Captain Aldo Sacco, along with NWFD Quint 2 arrived and found smoke issuing from a motel unit of a four unit occupied building. The fire was quickly extinguished and with fire damage held to the room of origin. The fire unit was not occupied during the incident.
Firefighters from Stone Harbor, Rio Grande, West Wildwood and Wildwood Crest covered the city during the incident. Wildwood Crest EMS also staged at Wildwood Fire Headquarters. Wildwood Police assisted with traffic and crowd control. No injuries were reported. Damage is estimated at $50,000 resulting in the building being completely shut-down and occupants relocated. Wildwood City Fire Department and the Cape May County Fire Marshal's Office investigated and determined the fire to be accidental. Units cleared after operating on scene for about an hour and a half. |
