On Sunday April 19, 2015 the Wildwood City Fire Department responded to 107 West Poplar Avenue for a reported dwelling fire at 10:31 PM. While enroute the box was filled due to police officers on scene reporting fire in a wall of an occupied building. Engine 38, under the command of Captain James Grauel along with NWFD Engine 2 arrived and began evacuating the building and extinguishing the fire. Firefighters found fire in a rear wall and second floor deck area. The fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage to the building. Fire units operated on scene for about an hour. There were no reported injuries. Additional fire units from Wildwood City FD were on scene and assisted in extinguishment and also covering the city. The fire was investigated by the City of Wildwood Fire Department as was determined to be accidental (discarded smoking material). Damage is estimated at $ 2,500. Fire damage was minimal due to the quick response of firefighters allowing the occupants to also return to their apartments. |
