On Monday April 14, 2014 at 14:43 as Engine 38 cleared a previous incident they were dispatched to 4900 Pacific Ave. for a reported structure fire. Engine 38 and Rescue Co. 3 arrived within one minute to find a working fire in the rear of the building. The fire was involving the rear trash area, electrical service, and the building. DFC Speigel requested AC Electric be notified to respond ASAP as the electrical service on the building and the pole were arcing. Engine 38 quickly extinguished the fire using the 1-3/4" bumper line. The fire began to extend into the wall space but the extension was quickly halted by Engine 38. Due to the quick response by the WFD damage was limited and further extension prevented. The CMC Fire Marshal's Office responded to conduct the investigation. The fire was determined to be accidental. Engine 38 operated on the scene for about one hour before returning to service. |
