On April 7, 2012 at 07:38 Engine 38 (A Platoon) was dispatched to 755 W. Poplar Ave. in West Wildwood for a reported structure fire. While enroute members could see a smoke column rising from the area. Upon arrival Engine 38 found a 3-story wood frame private dwelling with heavy smoke showing from the third floor and attic area. The home owner was outside and confirmed that there were no other people inside. Engine 38 established a water supply and stretched on the dwelling. Members found heavy fire conditions in the attic area and knocked down the bulk of the fire quickly. Engine 38 completed extinguishment . Box alarm companies from Engine 2 ( NWFD ), West Wildwood Vol. FD, and Wildwood were assigned to overhaul and salvage duties. Rio Grande Fire Sta. 72 responded at the RIT . There were no injuries reported. The fire was investigated by the Cape May County Fire Marshal and ruled accidental. Engine 38 took up at around 09:30. |
