Dwelling Fire - 5006 Atlantic Ave.
December 2, 2010

On Thursday December 2, 2010 at 15:34 hours the Wildwood FD was dispatched on a box alarm assignment to 5006 Atlantic Ave. for a reported structure fire.  Engine 38 "D" Platoon responded.  Engine 38 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from the rear of a 1-story private dwelling.  They also reported people trapped in the dwelling.  Chief Johnson (F-300) arrived on scene and assumed command.  He reported a working fire and requested Rio Grande FD Station 72 for a RIT team as well as Wildwood Crest Rescue for an ambulance.  Engine 38 removed two occupants and a dog from the dwelling.  A 1-3/4" line was stretched to the rear of the dwelling and the fire quickly knocked down as a water supply was established.  The fire was contained to the rear of the dwelling.  An occupant of the house was using some flammable spray foam insulation around the hot water heater which ignited causing the fire. The occupants were treated for minor smoke inhalation.  Arriving box alarm companies assisted with ventilation and overhaul.  Units operated on the scene for approximately 1-1/2 hours.
