Chief Daniel Speigel
 
     

Fire Chief Speigel was born and raised in Wildwood graduating from Wildwood High School in 1992.  He began his firefighting career after joining the Wildwood Fire Company in January 1992, following in the footsteps of his father Fire Chief (Ret) Floyd Speigel.  He began working part-time for the Wildwood Fire Department in April 1992 after completing Firefighter I and EMT training while still in high school.  He worked in this capacity until he was appointed to the position of Firefighter on 08May95.  DFC Speigel worked on C-Platoon and D-Platoon until he was promoted to Lieutenant on 02Nov01.  He was then promoted Captain on 01May03 as shift commander of B-Platoon.  On 01Mar10 DFC Speigel was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief and also served as the city's Fire Official. Due to budget constraints and threats of layoffs, DFC Speigel requested a voluntary demotion back to Captain, which was granted by the City. On 28Oct13 DFC Speigel was once again promoted to Deputy Fire Chief.

Chief Speigel holds several certifications/licenses including NJ State Fire Official, NJ State Fire Service Instructor Level II, NJ IMS Level III, NJ Division of Criminal Justice Arson Investigator, NJSP Haz-Mat Specialist/On-scene IC, NJ DCA Fire Sub-Code Official, NJ DCA Building Sub-code Official, NJ DCA Construction Official, NJ DCA Housing Official and NJ State EMT-B.   Chief Speigel is also a Certified Public Manager thru Fairleigh Dickenson University and was previously a Rescue Specialists with New Jersey Task Force-1 (NJ-TF1) Urban Search & Rescue Team with whom he responded to New York City during the 9-11 terrorists attacks. He retired from the team in 2011 after 13 years of service.

Chief Speigel holds membership in the National Fire Protection Association, International Association of Arson Investigators, NJ IAAI, International Association ofFire Chiefs and the NJ State Fire Chief's Association.  Chief Speigel is also an Instructor with the Cape May County Fire Academy, Safety and Survival LLC and Kean University's Fire Safety Training Program.

Chief Speigel is past-president and delegate of Wildwood FMBA # 50 and is a life member of Wildwood

 

Fire Company, West Wildwood Fire Company, Cape May County Firemen's Association, NJ State FMBA, NJ State Firemen's Association and the NJ State Exempt Firemen's Association.

Chief Speigel has received several commendations and citations for fire rescues and emergency medical incidents during his tenure.

Chief Speigel lives in Cape May Court House with his daughter Sydnee.
