WFD Responds to Mutual Aid Structure Fire in
Cape May City

May 3, 2016
.

On May 3, 2016 at approximately 01:08 Engine Co. 37 was dispatched mutual aid to the City of Cape May for a working fire at 905 St. James Place.  The fire was involving a row of attached townhomes.  Engine Co. 37 arrived on scene and laid a supply line to a Green Creek FD Tanker.  Engine 37’s crew along with DFC Speigel and BFC Troiano were then assigned to the original fire building and both exposures to complete extinguishment.  Members stretched lines to the top floors of the buildings involved and knocked down multiple areas of fire.  After operating on the scene for about 2 hours Wildwood City units were released by CMFD command and returned to the City.  The fire was determined to be caused by a lightning strike as the area was being hit with severe thunderstorms at the time of the fire.
